Project annotation:

The project adds one new strategic objective to the existing CxI Strategic Plan: to establish research centres jointly with a foreign partner. The implementation of the project will initially involve the development of manuals on the following topics: how to select a suitable partner for a joint research facility, how to proceed with the establishment of a joint research facility, and how to operate and manage a joint research facility. These guidance documents will be developed in cooperation with existing and new partners, in particular from the EU founding countries. In the next phase of the project implementation, the accuracy and functionality of these documents will be tested by piloting the establishment of two JRCs. The establishment of such joint labs has a number of technical issues such as complementarity of partners' expertise, interdisciplinarity, synergies, etc. A number of legislative, organisational and competence issues will also need to be addressed. All this in a bilateral relationship between partners from two different countries. As part of the fulfilment of these specific objectives of the project, a series of training events for existing and new researchers, managers and administrators will take place. All planned training events are aimed at developing the skills and competences needed to attract international partners, to maintain and to develop the intensity of international relations in science and research, with emphasis on their highest level, i.e. the establishment and sustainable operation of joint international workplaces.
