Facing a manufacturing challenge but don’t have your own R&D department? No problem. The university has one. And it can work for you, too. This was the message we brought to entrepreneurs at the Business Breakfast held at Lipo.ink in Liberec on 15 October. We showed companies how they can tap into the expertise, technologies and laboratory facilities of CXI TUL without having to invest millions in their own infrastructure.
Collaboration between universities and industry doesn’t have to start with a major research project. Sometimes, all it takes is a manufacturing problem a company cannot solve on its own. A hidden material defect, a complicated warranty claim or the development of a new product. These are exactly the kinds of challenges we help companies tackle.

At the event hosted by Lipo.ink, Adam Blažek from CXI TUL introduced opportunities for collaboration with the university and the SUPPORT4SME project. The project gives small and medium-sized enterprises access to state-of-the-art equipment and expert services on favourable terms. They only pay VAT.
Lukáš Slovák from Softli demonstrated that university–industry collaboration works beyond presentations and project proposals by sharing his own experience of working with CXI TUL. The strong interest from companies was also reflected in numerous specific questions and the discussion that followed.
Our goal is to show companies that a university is not a closed world of laboratories, but a partner they can turn to with real-world challenges. We have a long-standing partnership with the Liberec Region to strengthen connections between the university and regional businesses. We want companies to know they can approach us not only with ambitious research visions, but also with practical problems they need to solve right now.
