“Are we ready for change?”

We took part in the 4th HR conference of Masaryk University, whose main theme was the question “Are we ready for change?”. The conference offered an up-to-date view of the changing labour market, the use of artificial intelligence in everyday work, employee ambassadorship and burnout prevention. In addition to new insights for our HR practice, we valued the exchange of experience and good practice with representatives of other universities and research institutions.

Helping women grow:
our project in the HR Excellence Award 2026

How can we support women working in science and research? This is one of the questions we are answering at CXI. In September 2026, we presented the project “Helping Women Grow” in the regional round of the HR Excellence Award 2026. The project supports women researchers in coping with demanding situations in the academic environment. Although we did not win the award, taking part gave us the opportunity to share our experience, present CXI’s approach to staff wellbeing and show the wider public what the research working environment is like. We also established contacts with other organisations actively engaged in staff development and in creating a high-quality working environment.

HR Excellence in Research:
sharing experience with the European Commission

In April 2026, we took part in a round table with Michel Rosa-Clot, a European Commission expert on HR Excellence in Research. The meeting provided space for an open discussion on the progress of the initiative and for sharing experience with its preparation and implementation. One of the key topics was the on-site visit by assessors that awaits CXI as part of the HR Excellence in Research process. The meeting gave us the opportunity to compare our experience with the practice of other institutions and to prepare better for the next steps.

Developing management competences:
CXI at the HR Excellence in Research 2025 conference

How can managers contribute to effective HR and create a high-quality working environment? This was one of the topics of the HR Excellence in Research 2025 conference held at Charles University in November. On behalf of CXI, Ing. Alena Kábová gave the talk “Management competences for effective HR”, presenting our concept of training for managers. The conference provided space for sharing experience and inspiration among Czech institutions involved in the HR Excellence in Research initiative. It is precisely cooperation and the exchange of good practice that help us find new ways to develop HR processes and improve working conditions in the academic environment.
